My First Year as a Seneca College Student
Hello, my name is Crystal Magpayo and the story I want to share is about My First Year as a Seneca College Student in Flight Services. As a graduate student in June 2013 at St. Joseph Secondary School, I immediately had drawn myself to Seneca College in the program of Travel & Tourism Flight Services. I had no determination or an idea that I would ever get myself into this program other than Hotel Management or Art of Dance however, I didn’t meet the requirements of having a ballet background which made it difficult for me to find a program at the time. Everyone has a certain determination into what profession they would want to succeed in, but in my case, Seneca College Flight Services just called upon to me and I took that risk. Although I was very new to entering a College School on my own, I was scared at first but I was even MORE EXCITED considering I will be the next potential Flight Attendant for international or domestic airlines. While I was a First Year student at Seneca College, I was extremely involved and fascinated with the field trips that my program provided such as the Jazz, Buttonville Airport, Porter Airlines Billy Bishop City Airport, Gate Gourmet, and Simon Chang. I loved participating in those field trips because they gave me more in-depth knowledge for preparing me on how it is like to live the Flight Attendant lifestyle and what it entails. The courses that I have taken were beneficial prior to the profession I am seeking to do in the next 4 years and over. The courses I have for instance flight courses, I have met many great Flight Attendant Professors and in those courses I have done numerous hands-on activities that would prepare me for a reality scenario as a Flight Attendant. When I was a First Year student at Seneca College, I was also obsessed and happy to see a College School that would provide us a mock of “Flight Attendant Uniforms”. The uniforms definitely captured my interest into this program at Seneca College because not only do they teach us the courses for the Profession, but they also make us learn how practice wearing the uniform everyday so we would get used to how it feels wearing it in the real airlines. Seneca College taught me to wear the school uniform for my program because later in time I will be the “face of the airline company” and I would have to use the brand by wearing their uniform with the proper grooming. Seneca College is a great school not only because of the program I wanted to take, but also because it requires many great experiences everyone can receive if you just work hard. My First Year at Seneca College in Flight Services has been a great experience because I have met great teachers, and met a few good people along the way of my struggles.
